You know how some people are so brilliant or passionate about their work that it feels as if they were born to do just that? For instance, I know of a friend who is such an effortless dancer that there can be no doubt about the fact that she is meant for dancing. And then there are very, very few people who are meant for more than just one thing. Let me tell you about my friend who is a marvellous interior designer at present, but I swear she would make an equally great engineer.
Most girls play with dolls and doll houses when they are small, but this genius friend of mine loved to play with engineering toys. Her parents feared to leave her alone with any electrical gadgets, not because they thought she would hurt herself, but because they knew she would disintegrate them into small pieces. When she grew up, it did not come as a surprise to any of us to see her great, incomparable aptitude for physics, chemistry, and maths. Were it not for her, I would probably be still at school trying to pass my science exams. She naturally did her graduation from one of the top engineering colleges in Gurgaon. She got selected in the best engineering college of India but she didn’t want to move away from her parents.
But what did come as a surprise to her friends as well as her parents was when she said she wanted to pursue interior design upon graduating from college. None of us was aware of her keen interest in interior designing. She belongs to one rare category of students who simply study to learn, and do not bother about the degree. She told us how she once entered an interior designing class in her college by mistake but was so spellbound that she just could not leave. From that day on, whenever she had spare time, she tried to somehow attend an interior designing class. Over the course of four years of her engineering course she realised how much she enjoyed the art of interior design. Her parents supported her wholeheartedly. She of course got admission in one of the best interior design colleges in India and is now one of the leading interior designers of the country. Isn’t this an absolutely filmy story?
